Sand

Sand is a crafting material that is obtain by interacting with a Sand Pit while having a Spade or Multi-tool equipped. A player with level 1 Mining has a 35% success rate of obtaining Sand; the success rate can be increased to 100% with an increased Mining level (capping out at level 66 Mining). Successfully obtaining Sand grants 8 Mining experience. Sand is commonly gathered and sold on the market by lower leveled players as a good source of income.

Sand Pits

Sand pits can also yield uncut crystals in various grades ranging from Low to Superior. They are located in several desert areas: Dorpat, Reval, Moche I, and Moche II. Reval has the closest sand pit to a chest, so it is the most commonly used location.

Uses

Alchemy

Sand can be used to create vials using the Alchemy skill at a Furnace. Available vials are rolled from largest to smallest unless a player has a specific blueprint equipped. The vial that corresponds to the equipped blueprint will be given priority over the other sizes. All vials require 2 sand to smelt.

Carpentry

Sand can be used to create windows using the Carpentry skill on a Player Island.
